Prato Valentino is situated above Teglio and features two main takeoff sites:
Seggiovia
Curvone
On good flying days, local pilots organize unofficial shuttles to the takeoff point. The meeting spot varies and is usually either in front of Alex Bar, Bianzone, or in Teglio.

The Seggiovia takeoff is one of the most promising sites in the middle valley, thanks to its higher altitude, which helps avoid getting trapped in the valley inversion.
Access
By foot: Park at the end of the road to Alpe Teglio and hike up (~2h) to the chairlift arrival station.
By chairlift:
Winter & August: The chairlift is open, allowing for easier access.
Check availability: Alpe Teglio chairlift website.
Takeoff Locations
SW-facing takeoff: Left of the chairlift arrival.
SE-facing takeoff: Right of the chairlift arrival.
Additional option: The grassy area above the chairlift arrival (S-facing) is also usable for takeoff (~20 min hike up).
🪂 XC Flights from Nemina & Prato Valentino takeoffs: Check the [XContest link] for recorded routes and flight details.
SE-facing takeoff: Footage (Credits: @Marco Giuseppe Colturi) available showing the takeoff with and without snow coverage
The SW-facing takeoff is less commonly used, especially for XC flights in the morning.
For both take offs, please consider that snow accumulation can make takeoff more challenging in winter. Both takeoffs have a similar level of complexity, requiring careful preparation, especially in snowy conditions.
The Curvone takeoff is easily accessible by car from Teglio.
