Aprica offers two takeoff opportunities, both easily accessible in winter via ski lifts. However, since they are mainly north-facing, XC flight potential is limited.
📍 For an overview, refer to the map.
1️⃣ Magnolta Takeoff ("Piana Galli")
Elevation: 2000m ASL
Location: Right outside the arrival of the "Piana Galli" chairlift.
2️⃣ Palabione Takeoff ("Colle Pasò")
Elevation: 2300m ASL
Location: On the slope west of the "Colle Pasò" ski lift arrival station.
Access
Winter:
Reachable via the respective ski facilities: Aprica Ski Info.
Skiing required: You must wear skis to be allowed on the lifts.
Off-season (when ski lifts are closed):
Hiking required: A 2 to 2.5-hour walk for both takeoffs.
A small landing field is available in the fields behind Hotel Residence San Lorenzo (windsock near the hotel).
Alternative landing options exist, but always assess conditions carefully.
⚠ Important: Be extra cautious of the cables from the ski facilities when approaching for landing.
Monte Padrio / Trivigno are offers two takeoff opportunities, both easily accessible in winter via ski lifts. Even if not widely used by local pilots, there is some XC flight potential.
1️⃣ Monte Padrio Peak Takeoff
Elevation: 2150m ASL - S facing
Location and Logistics: Park your car in the small parking area near the wooden house in Trivigno: Google Maps Link. In winter, the valley is used for cross-country skiing. Monte Padrio is the mountain directly in front of you when facing east.
Follow the paved road until you reach the tree line. On the left, you'll find an unpaved road—take this path and follow the signs for "Monte Padrio." The hike takes approximately 1 hour.
Takeoff is possible from the south slope, just below the peak. If gaining lift above the takeoff isn't possible, there is a landing option near the parked car.
2️⃣ Windsock Takeoff
Elevation: 1850m ASL - S facing
Location and Logistics: The site is located along the road from Trivigno to Mortirolo Pass: Google Maps Link. Since the road is quite narrow, it's recommended to park in Trivigno and continue on foot—a walk of about 30 minutes.
Takeoff is possible from the field beside the road, where a windsock is located.
